Healthcare

The city of Burlington is the proud home of a number of family health practices which handle non-severe injuries, illnesses, and checkups. Many of these are taking on new patients and are reasonably priced enough that you won't be tempted to exchange your jewelry for cash before going in. There are also supplementary medicine clinics that offer services such as chiropractic alignments and physiotherapy. Burlington residents have a number of optometrists to handle their eye health and vision issues, dentists who promote oral health and hygiene and perform minor oral surgery. Burlington's pets and livestock, from cows right down to hamsters, are well looked after by area veterinarians.

Burlington is also pleased to provide full hospital and emergency services located right in the city itself, which is good news for anyone who's ever messed around with crimp terminals and gotten electrocuted. Fire, police, and ambulance can be accessed by dialing 9-1-1. Paramedics refer all emergency cases to Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital at 1230 North Shore Boulevard in Burlington.

Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital serves not just Burlington but the surrounding towns of Halton, Hamilton, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton, Oakville, and Stoney Creek, which amounts to over a quarter of a million people. As such Joseph Brant Memorial is aways growing to ensure it can meet the community's needs. (for medicine, not online postcard printing!) The hospital has undergone numerous upgrades and restructurings amounting to millions of dollars since it opened in 1961 and currently contains 267 beds. The emergency department alone serves over 46,000 patients per year. The hospital provides outpatient, critical, cancer, pediatric, mental health, and surgical care.

In addition to hospital and clinic facilities Burlington is home to the Canadian Therapeutic College. The college offers diploma programs to students who want to have fancy offices unlocked by cryptocards and are therefore looking to train in therapeutic massage, acupuncture, emergency medicine, dental assistance, and physiotherapy. The College also runs public clinics staffed by students and professors who are able to administer the above treatments. The Canadian Therapeutic College is affiliated with the Canadian College of Dental Health.
