The hospital has undergone numerous upgrades and restructurings amounting to millions of dollars since it opened in 1961 and currently contains 267 beds. The emergency department alone serves over 46,000 patients per year. The hospital provides outpatient, critical, cancer, pediatric, mental health, and surgical care.
In addition to hospital and clinic facilities Burlington is home to the Canadian Therapeutic College. The college offers diploma programs to students who want to have fancy offices unlocked by cryptocards and are therefore looking to train in therapeutic massage, acupuncture, emergency medicine, dental assistance, and physiotherapy. The College also runs public clinics staffed by students and professors who are able to administer the above treatments.
