Neighbourhoods

Burlington is large enough to be called a "city", therefore it has a lot of the features traditionally associated with a city such as a fairly built up downtown area with surrounding neighborhoods consisting largely of modern condos and apartment buildings like you would find in Toronto condos. Burlington does have some of these neighborhoods but of course its condo and apartment offerings pale in comparison to nearby downtown Toronto. Burlington's major advantage over downtown Toronto is that while it doesn't have as many apartments or condos what little there is is much more reasonably priced due to its distance from the downtown core. Living there will require a longer commute, but will enable the average person to afford a larger place with more luxuries than if you limited your search to new condos Toronto.

The vast majority of housing in Burlington, however, takes the form of suburban neighborhoods. As a bedroom community serving the Greater Toronto Area, Burlington is primarily the destination for families who cannot afford a house large enough for all its members in close proximity to the parents' jobsites in Toronto. In Burlington there is a profusion of wide, tree-lined streets with large single-family homes sitting on sizeable lawns to accommodate these people. Many of them are pre-planned, meaning people who make their careers in real estate have designed it to be uniform for aesthetic and financial reasons, so if you're looking for a really unique house you probably won't find one here. What you will find are nice views, since Burlington has over 800 acres of parkland.

More developments, both of the condo and single-family neighborhood persuasion are popping up all the time to accommodate Burlington's increasing population. Therefore it is possible to buy a brand new home here if you don't mind waiting for it to be completed before you can move in. You could even finish it off with skills you've learned in a faux finish workshop. It's a prime area for real estate investing as well since the constant influx of people is always driving the real estate prices ever higher so that pretty soon there will be very little price difference between Mississauga homes for sale and Burlington real estate.
