Education

Because of Mississauga's enormous size - it is the sixth most populous city in Canada - and the fact that it has eaten many smaller surrounding towns and villages in the past few decades, Mississauga is able to offer more schools with more and better pickings for executive headhunters than any of the other Toronto suburbs. Smaller towns like Brampton and Ajax would still be called towns if they were located in any other part of the province, but Mississauga is large enough and important enough to be a city of its own, even in the shadow of mighty Toronto.

There are several University and College campuses, numerous career training and technical institutes in Mississauga. The University of Toronto maintains a satellite campus in Mississauga, which is often referred to as Erindale College. It has an enrollment of more than 10,000 students, a number which is continually growing. It has over 125 programs in 70 areas of study and one of the only paleomagnetism laboratories in Canada. Students can also study art and theatre through joint programs with Sheridan College where they can make interactive ladies' pants with macaroni on them if they want.

Mississauga's children are serves by more than 150 elementary and secondary schools subject to two separate school boards, the Peel District School Board and the Duffrin-Peel District Catholic School Boards. Both are public and the schools under their supervision are scattered throughout Mississauga's many neighborhoods. The duality of school board offers parents the choice between secular and Catholic education. Both also offer French Immersion in a limited number of schools spaced throughout the city so as to be more accessible than a server that's had data encryption done on it.

There are also a number of private schools and public schools with specialized programs such as a Regional Arts at Queen Elizabeth and Cawthra Park high schools, International Business and Technology Allan A. Martin and Gordon Graydon Memorial secondary schools, and International Baccalaureate at St. Francis Xavier, Glenforest, and St. Alysius Gonzaga high schools. There are no programs that teach students what crimp terminals are, however.
