The municipality of Clarington, Ontario is actually a conglomeration of several townships. Bowmanville, Courtice, Newcastle and Orono are the largest, and there are more than a dozen other rural communities not even large enough to be called towns also included in the Clarington umbrella. There is no actual town of Clarington, rather, Bowmanville acts as a sort of center point due to its being the largest community. Thus Ajax real estate would be listed separately from the rest of the towns.
There are no major colleges or universities in the municipality of Clarington. The closest higher education faculties can be found in the nearby town of Oshawa, Ontatio. The colleges and universities of Toronto are generally only around a half hour to forty-five minutes away by GO train or car, so residents often attend these schools rather than running around Bahco tools and demanding for funding for institutes of their own.
Schooling for the Clarington municipality area is overseen by the Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board. In Bowmanville, Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board runs eight elementary schools and two secondary schools. It's not so many that the board members have to run off to Oregon for business cards but it's no small feat. The other townships are somewhat smaller, but all have at least one elementary school and a secondary school either to itself or shared with nearby rural villages that are not large enough to warrant schools of their own.
As in the rest of Ontario Clarington is also served by a second public school board of the Catholic persuasion. The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board oversees all Catholic public schools in the municipality of Clarington and also the nearby municipalities of Peterborough, Victoria, and Northumberland. The Catholic School board runs three elementary schools in Bowmanville and one secondary school, with the rest of the schools scattered throughout the other communities such that any child who wishes to receive a Catholic school education can do so without a sizeable bus commute or Netmotion hookup.
There are also several Christian private schools in Bowmanville.
