Healthcare

There are not many established opportunities for health care professionals in Bradford unless those people are willing to commute to nearby towns like Newmarket or have the means and desire to start up a new practice. Those people would be better off looking at Mississauga listings. Apart from the odd family practice there are few doctors and dentists in town, making Bradford an excellent opportunity for recently graduated doctors or dentists looking to start out on their own. Another option for health care professionals looking to move to Bradford would be to live in Bradford and work in Toronto, as the city and all its emergency rooms and specialized surgery departments are only thirty minutes away by commuter train.

Bradford is such a small town that it is not populated enough to warrant its own hospital. Persons requiring hospitalization are taken to Southlake Regional Health Center in the nearby town of Newmarket. Southlake's facilities provide everything a patient could need, even if they've just been run over by an industrial vehicle, from diagnostic imaging to cancer treatment. It has a fully equipped emergency room, birthing facilities, a cardiac care unit, the capacity to provide continuing and intensive care, and a medical arts building right across the street to take care of any non-dire medical needs.

Emergency services in Bradford are handled by a joint county agreement with the other towns around Lake Simcoe. Fire, paramedics, police, and 911 are all available in Bradford so make sure the county is apprised of your civic address, especially if you live in one of the more rural neighborhoods or on a farm where there's lots of sharp and dangerous hand garden tools.

The one kind of hospital there is in the actual town of Bradford is an animal hospital. There are several practitioners of veterinary medicine in town to treat sick or injured animals of all sizes, from large farm horses and cows to pet cats, dogs, and even tiny hamsters.
